Job Summary

Achieve operational and company business objectives by providing Health, Safety, and Environmental support for field operations and to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management Systems: Assist in HSE management systems and corporate programs. Provide visible HSE support for Continental's Drilling, Completions, and Production Groups focused on CLR's HSE policy.

  • Field-Based HSE Support: Position be primarily focused on H&S program support but will also assist in air, water, and waste programs at the field, regional or company level. This includes, but is not limited to LDAR, solid waste, TENORM, SWPPP, NPDES, SPCC, etc.

  • Build Relationships of Trust: Develop positive relationships with governmental regulatory agencies and CLR's employees, and contractors.

  • HSE Program Implementation: Plays a supporting role in the development of new HSE Programs/ Procedures/ Standards/ Alerts to reduce operational risks, supports communication and implementation at field level to assure understanding, raises potential gaps and improvements for supervisory action, participates and periodically delivers training to support field HSE initiatives.

  • Compliance Assurance: Works in support of compliance-based reviews and inspections of assigned operating locations and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance, supports incident tracking and trending of field H&S data, provide assistance to supervisors while meeting with field-based regulatory personnel, participates as directed during agency visits, provide required personal protective equipment to meet requirements. Ability to interpret regulations, standards, and recommended practices and apply them to operational conditions and planning.

  • Incident Management: Provide direct support to assigned operational groups on incident investigation and reporting process, help to coordinate injury case management, assist operations leadership in the implementation of corrective actions, provide support on EHS reporting and vendor H&S incident reviews, communicate and discuss key learnings included in Safety Alerts with assigned area of operation

  • Risk Management: Work collaboratively with operations and/or maintenance teams on day-to-day risk issues, help identify appropriate controls (training, procedures, equipment) to reduce risk, provide field H&S support to assigned high risk operations (ex. rig moves, heavy lifts, etc), support field site efforts by operational supervisors to eliminate hazards, utilizes JHA’s and similar risk assessment tools to ensure effective risk assessment and mitigation prior to starting key field tasks.

  • Inspections, Audits and Reviews: Conduct inspections and reviews for assigned operations, support operational supervision in preparing for high-risk activities, promote and encourage discussion of industry best practice when closing gaps, assist in compiling reports and communicating recommendations for improvement.

  • Contractor Management: Support local efforts in contractor safety management, play a lead role in contractor communication and coordination as assigned, support operations in pre-qualification efforts of vendors, conduct or participates in contractor safety meetings, communicate findings and field level observations to Supervisor for action, and support Drug and Alcohol testing programs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • A minimum of 2 years of E&P (or related H&S work experience).

  • Clean motor vehicle record.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience in Drilling operations

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Completions, and Productions operations helpful

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • H&S Certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, ASP or a related discipline)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for an extended period.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.

  • Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions.

  • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.

  • Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.

  • Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.

  • Ability to work significant amounts of time in various weather conditions as required in completing job responsibilities.

  • Working environment includes potential exposure to loud noises in the field, hazardous chemicals, and hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.
